Actually, its my first time to visit these sites.. haha :))
so here it is :) :
MY 25 IT JOB LISTINGS
He also asked us to list the TECHNICAL SKILLS, NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS, and RESPONSIBILITIES that we found and tally using bar graph. :)
For the TECHNICAL SKILLS, these are the results:
( I separated the graphs because there are so many technical skills and it would make the font size smaller if I placed them in 1 whole graph)

As you can see, MYSQL ,C#,C++ Language, and Java got the most number of technical skills preferred by companies. I guess that's good news for us ICTM students since we're taking Java lessons under INTPRG. Now i know that I have to take it seriously in order to get a good job. I'm not aware of PMI Standard,XML, CSS, Crystal Report, Word Perfect, CICS, and IMS. This is the first time I encountered these programs. Now, my question is are we going to learn about these things?
These are my findings for the Non-technical skills, all of the companies requires that the applicants are graduate of any computer-related course like Computer Science and Information Technology. Some of the companies would also need someone who is willing to work with a team because as they say two heads are better than one and making a project would require sharing ideas and knowledge to make something perfect. :) Another skill in demand is having good communication skills both oral and written. This is important in making reports, plans, and any activity wherein you have to present something. One more thing, anything we do or say reflects not only ourselves but also the companies we are working for. Other non-technical skills are being a strong problem solver and a fast learner. Now I know what qualities I need to work on so that companies would hire me. In order to develop these, I need to work on being responsible, a hard worker, and being inventive.
In every job, there is an equivalent responsibility. In the IT field, often the responsibilities are participating in process and quality improvement initiatives. This is important to know what's happening in the company and to suggest new things for the improvement of the company's system. Another thing is the Web development or maintaining the company's website, as we all know that is the expertise of someone in the IT field. So it's a big responsibility because only an IT professional can do this job. One more thing, software defects are hard to be prevented so its his or her job to debug or maintain the company's software. Other responsibilities are unit testing of software and creating test plans. With this Homework, I learned what skills I need to possess and as early as now that I'm in my freshman year I need to develop these skills in order to have a bright future ahead of me. :p
